YouTube channel Max Tech has conducted a comparative test of a 13-inch MacBook Pro equipped with an M1 chip with a memory capacity of 8GB model and 16GB model, and released it in a video. A big difference was found between the two models when exporting 8K RAW R3D video to 4K video.

Max Tech has conducted a comparative test of a 13-inch MacBook Pro with an M1 chip, with 8G and 16GB memory models. Tests such as the CINEBENCH R23 have reported that the temperature of the M1 chip does not rise very much and the housing does not heat up.

Export 8K RAW R 3D video to 4K video

The time it took to export an 8K RAW R3D video to a 4K video was 13 minutes 57 seconds for the 8GB memory model and 5 minutes 59 seconds for the 16GB memory model.
 
The 32GB memory model of the 16-inch MacBook Pro with Intel processor for comparison was 5 minutes and 30 seconds faster than the 16GB memory model of the 13-inch MacBook Pro with M1 chip.
 

RAW export in Lightroom Classic

When exporting RAW in Lightroom Classic, the 8GB model with 8GB of memory was 3 minutes and the 16GB model with 16GB of memory was 2 minutes and 43 seconds, which was not as different as exporting from 8K RAW R3D video to 4K video.
 
The processing time of the 16GB memory model of the 13-inch MacBook Pro with M1 chip was shorter than the test result of 2 minutes and 50 seconds for the 27-inch iMac (2020 model) with 16GB of memory.

16GB memory model is advantageous for video editing

Based on the results of this comparison test, iPhone Hacks reports that the 16GB memory model is recommended for users who edit a lot of videos.
