A comment posted on Twitter by former Apple engineer Dinesh Dave revealed that the development of AirPods Max seems to have started four years ago.

Mr. Dave seems to have posted a link to AirPods Max with a comment that “the last product I signed a non-disclosure agreement (NDA) has finally been released”. Ryan Jones retweeted.

Dave seems to have already retired from Apple, but the tweet seems to have had a problem with the nondisclosure agreement, and has since closed his Twitter account.
It seems that the development of AirPods Max started around the end of 2016, as Dave was visited by a follower on the day he signed a nondisclosure agreement and responded that it was four years ago.
Has the number of installed functions been significantly reduced even during a long development period?
