SoftBank held a new 5G price presentation on December 22, 2020, and announced a new price plan.
Positioning of three brands changes
Until now, at SoftBank, large-capacity and reasonable “SoftBank” centered on real shops, medium-capacity and low-priced “Ymobile” combined with real shops and online shops, and small-capacity and ultra-low-priced “LINE” centered on online shops. We have operated three brands, “Mobile”.
Among them, LINE Mobile is an MVNO, and in addition to Softbank lines, au lines and DoCoMo lines could be selected. Regarding the existing LINE Mobile plans, we will stop accepting new plans starting in March.
Up until now, the three brands have been in the same position as mentioned above, but in the future, “SoftBank” for “large capacity brands”, “Ymobile” for “small and medium capacity brands”, and “SoftBank on LINE” for “online-only brands” Will be reorganized into three.
Launched new brand “SoftBank on LINE”
LINE Mobile, which used to be an MVNO, is planning to make SoftBank a wholly owned subsidiary and consider an absorption-type merger, and will evolve into an MNO as SoftBank’s internal brand “SoftBank on LINE.”
The basic usage fee for “SoftBank on LINE” is “2,980 yen” (excluding tax), the data capacity is 20GB, and domestic calls within 5 minutes are free. The data capacity of “LINE” is basically no count, and it supports 5G and eSIM. Reception starts in March.
In addition, although it used to be an MVNO, as an MNO quality network, you can use various services with the same network and quality as SoftBank and Ymobile.
Reception and various changes will be accepted not only on the Web but also on the “LINE” app.
Ymobile launches 5G service
Ymobile will launch 5G service in February 2021. In line with this, we have announced a new rate plan that will keep the monthly rate unchanged.
The new rate plans are “Simple S” (high-speed data communication capacity 3GB) for 1,980 yen per month, “Simple M” (high-speed data communication capacity 10GB) for 2,980 yen per month, and “Simple L” (high-speed data communication capacity) for 3,780 yen per month. There are three (capacity 20GB) (all excluding tax). Both are compatible with 5G and have the same price.
Also, if you apply “Home Discount Hikari Set (A)” or “Family Discount Service (2nd line or later)”, you can save 500 yen every month. Please note that these discount services cannot be used together.
Softbank starts offering “Unlimited Sharpness” at a common price for 5G
SoftBank announced that it will offer “Unlimited Sharpness” as a new rate plan. This is also designed so that the monthly fee will not change, and will be available in March 2021.
Sharp unlimited is a plan that you can use with unlimited data capacity for 6,580 yen (excluding tax) per month. This is also compatible with 5G and has a common charge. In addition, the capacity of the part where the monthly usage was “discount if it is 2GB or less” has been increased to “3GB or less”.
In addition, applying the “Home Discount Hikari Set” will save you 1,000 yen, and applying the “New Minna Family Discount” will save you 600 yen a month for two people and 1,100 yen a month for three or more people. These discount services can be used together.
