It is reported that Apple’s iPhone 12/Pro orders surge, and next year’s Q1 shipments will increase 38%

Foreign media Apple Insider reported that Cowen analysts said that Apple’s estimated demand for the iPhone 12 series is high, and that it has increased orders from its assembly partners in Q1 2021. It is expected that iPhone 12 series shipments will increase by 38% year-on-year.

So far, the iPhone 12 series has proven to be Apple’s popular mobile device, and it may maintain strong demand for a long time. In a note to investors on the entire smartphone market seen by foreign media Apple Insider, Cowen analysts believe that Apple is enjoying strong demand, which will continue until the Q1 quarter of 2021.

It is reported that Apple’s iPhone 12/Pro orders surge, and next year’s Q1 shipments will increase 38%

The number of shipments at the end of March 2021 will grow to 51 million units, an increase of 38% year-on-year. This number is also higher than last month’s forecast for the quarter, when it was expected to be 47 million units.

These changes mainly include the increase in orders for iPhone 12, iPhone 12 Pro and iPhone 12 Pro Max, while shipments of iPhone 12 mini are expected to remain unchanged.

Part of the reason is the demand in the Chinese market. Cowen analyzed data and pointed out that in November 2020 alone, more than 6 million units were sold. This is equivalent to a market share of about 20%, which is also a record high over the years.

For the quarter of December 2020, the current goal of Apple’s iPhone 12 series is to produce 79 million units, a year-on-year increase of 13%. The iPhone 12 model is believed to account for 82% of orders. In the past two generations of products, this generation of models only accounted for an average of 74%, emphasizing the current demand for this batch of smart phones.

Despite the high production volume, the total output of iPhone 12 in the second half of 2020 is estimated to be 75 million units, which is down from around 84 million units in the previous two years. This may be due to Apple’s decision to ship the latest models later than normal, which is a global event-driven choice.

Even so, the overall iPhone manufacturing volume increased by 3% year-on-year to 121 million units. In 2020, the number of tracking units for the whole year is 193 million, a decrease of 3% year-on-year, but the number of iPhone units in 2021 is predicted by Cowen to be 215 million.
