DXOMARK, known for smartphone camera image quality tests, has released the results of a new test to evaluate smartphone batteries. Samsung Galaxy M51 is in first place, and Apple’s iPhone 12 Pro Max is in fourth place.
Conduct a comprehensive battery test
This DXOMARK battery test evaluates the following three items.
- autonomy: how long the battery lasts
- charging: How long does it take to charge the battery
- efficiency: How efficiently your device can charge the battery
These tests are performed by reproducing the actual usage environment. For example, the autonomy test is conducted in a room where radio waves are blocked, with a Wi-Fi antenna and a cellular repeater installed, isolated from disturbances that affect measurement accuracy and reproducibility.
In addition, the lighting system reproduces the actual amount of light, and the change in display brightness due to the illuminance sensor is also taken into consideration.
Samsung Galaxy M51 1st, iPhone12 Pro Max 4th
According to the test results, Samsung Galaxy M51 was number one.
The Galaxy M51 has a 7,000mAh high-capacity battery and a low-power Snapdragon 730, which gives these good results.
Among Apple’s iPhone series, the iPhone 12 Pro Max ranked fourth. The battery capacity isn’t as big as 3,687mAh, but thanks to iOS’s excellent battery management, it gets a high score.
Also, Samsung’s flagship smartphone, the Galaxy S21 Ultra 5G, had an interesting result that the score differs greatly depending on whether the SoC installed is Snapdragon 888 or Exynos 2100.
