Snap CEO “Apple’s Fees Are Reasonable” ~ Couldn’t Exist Without Apple

Evan Spiegel

“Apple’s 30% in-app purchase fee is reasonable,” said Evan Spiegel, CEO of Snap, which runs Snapchat, on a CNBC show.

It’s justified to pay a fee in exchange for what Apple offers

Snap’s CEO Spiegel, who starred on CNBC’s “TechCheck” show, said he had no complaints about Apple’s 30% commission payment.

“I feel like Snapchat wouldn’t exist without the great platform made by the iPhone and Apple. In that sense, I don’t know if we have the option of paying a 30% fee. Still software and hardware. It would be reasonable to pay a fee in exchange for what Apple offers on both sides. “

Spiegel’s remarks contradict US businessman Barry Diller’s comments on Apple. Apple’s in-app purchases were “charged in an unreasonable way,” said Diller last Friday.

Snap also supports ATT without problems

Snap’s Spiegel also praised Apple’s “App Tracking Transparency” (ATT) from iOS 14.5, saying “We’re in line with Apple’s privacy policy.” .. “The investment in user privacy protection that we started 10 years ago has finally come to fruition.”

“Currently, our business is going smoothly (according to ATT).”

Apple’s “ATT” requires the app to ask for permission to access the user’s IDFA (Identifier for Advertisers) tag, and is prompted the first time the app is opened. It is designed to be.

With 96% of US users choosing not to allow tracking, many apps are being forced to change their business model by ATT.
