IT Home News on May 29 According to foreign media TheElec, Samsung Display and LG Display have begun to produce OLED panels for Apple’s iPhone 13, which is one month ahead of the production of last year’s iPhone 12 series. This year, as the global new crown epidemic has eased compared to the same period last year, the production task is proceeding as scheduled, and the next-generation iPhone is expected to be released in September to October as scheduled.
According to people familiar with the matter, Samsung started production in mid-May, starting the deposition process of organic materials a week earlier than LG. When the screen assembly was completed, Samsung completed the first batch of products 10 days earlier than LG.
According to previous news, Samsung Display plans to produce 80 million OLED screens for the iPhone 13, while LG will produce 30 million. In addition, the next-generation iPhone 13 Pro (Max) model is expected to be equipped with Samsung’s LTPO panel, which supports a 120Hz refresh rate. The LTPS panel produced by LG will be used in the lower iPhone 13, 13 mini models.
If the iPhone 12 series is added, Samsung Display is expected to supply about 120 million-130 million OLED panels for Apple mobile phones in 2021, while LG will supply about 50 million. IT House previously reported that the domestic manufacturer BOE failed to enter the Apple iPhone supply chain, and the screens produced are expected to be used for after-sales repair and replacement purposes.
