Remotely announce your participation by confirming attendance of Google Calendar invitations

Google Calendar

Google plans to expand its attendance confirmation (RSVP) capabilities in the coming weeks to support a hybrid work style that parallels working from home and working in the office. This will allow users to respond to Google Calendar invitation attendance confirmations by specifying whether they will be attending in the meeting room or remotely.

Participation can be announced by selecting either the conference room or remote

Invited users can specify their participation status from the new drop-down menu in the event details. Organizers and other guests can also see how participants plan to attend the meeting. This allows participants to understand what they expect when attending a meeting and prepare the organizer accordingly.

For now, this new option only appears in Google Calendar invitations, but will be added to Gmail invitations in the future.

However, users who use Outlook or iCal as their primary calendar will not see this option.

According to Google, the new attendance confirmation option will be available sequentially over the next few weeks starting July 8th, local time.
