Foreign media MacRumors and 9to5 Mac reported that Foxconn is Apple’s largest and most important iPhone supplier. The company said that heavy rains and floods in China’s Henan Province hit its main iPhone production plant, but did not affect production operations.
Foxconn said in a statement to foreign media CNBC that its main factory in Zhengzhou, the capital of Henan Province, was not affected by the city’s floods. Foxconn stated that it has “launched an emergency plan for flood prevention measures in the area” and is actively monitoring the situation. Today, the Industrial Fortune Alliance announced that it would donate 100 million yuan on behalf of Foxconn Group for the local disaster relief work and post-disaster reconstruction in Henan.
“We can confirm that so far, the facilities in the area have not been directly affected. We are closely monitoring the situation and will provide any updated information as appropriate.”
Foxconn has the largest iPhone assembly plant in Zhengzhou. There are still a few months away from Apple’s release of the iPhone 13 series, which may mean that product shipments will be delayed.
In addition, Apple CEO Tim Cook said that Apple will donate money to disaster relief efforts and care about everyone affected by the floods in Henan Province and the rescuers who are on the front line to protect people’s safety.
At the same time, Bloomberg recently reported that the increase in epidemic cases in Vietnam has caused Apple suppliers to require “factories to stay overnight” to prevent the emergence of COVID-19 infection cases.
Not only that, large technology companies are also affected by the shortage of semiconductors, although TSMC reiterated that Apple’s iPhone 13 series production line should not be affected.
