On July 21, DoCoMo, KDDI, Softbank, and Rakuten Mobile called on users to be careful, saying that phishing SMS and emails disguised as telecommunications carriers and courier companies were being sent.

When you access the URL described in phishing emails, you are directed to an elaborate fake site, and it is difficult to distinguish it from a real site.

Fake sites may ask you to enter your ID and password and may be prompted to install a fake app.

The following is an example of a phishing SMS or fake site published by DoCoMo, and you can see that it is very similar to a real site.

Points to note

The four major carriers are calling for attention to the following four points to avoid being a victim of phishing scams.

  • Check if there are any suspicious points in the phone number, email address, and contents of the received SMS or email sender, and if you remember it.
  • If the content of the SMS or e-mail is anxious, such as the suspension of use of the service, access the official site via a search engine without clicking the URL in the e-mail.
  • Install the app from the official app store
  • Use biometrics, etc.

In addition, if you enter an ID etc. on a fake site or if you have installed a fake app, we warn you to change your password or delete the app.

In 2020, the number of phishing websites increased 1.3 times from the previous year, and phishing SMS, etc. for docomo, au, Sagawa Express, etc. have been reported.
