Genius Electronic Optical (GSEO), a manufacturer of lens modules for smartphones that also supplies lenses for the iPhone, seems to be in full operation at the factory. The company’s chairman, Jones Chen, expects this to continue until the beginning of the fourth quarter of 2021 (October-December).

Continued increase in production of rumored lens modules equipped with iPhone 13 series

GSEO seems to be producing lens modules for smartphones at full capacity at four factories in southeastern China to handle a large number of orders.

The company’s production capacity seems to have increased by 12% to 13% compared to 2020, but the number of plastic lenses used in one smartphone lens module has increased, so the number of modules shipped has increased by only 10%. It is said that it has not been done.

Analyst Minchi Kuo reported that the iPhone 13 series (sometimes rumored to be the iPhone 12s) will use a 7P lens to improve shooting performance in the dark.

Rumors that Apple’s AR headset optical lens is also under development

GSEO is currently seeing an increase in orders for mid-range to high-end 5P (5 plastic lenses) and 6P, as well as 7P lenses.

This will increase the company’s profit margin from 15% to 22% in 2020 to 35% to 40% in 2021, analyst Minchi Kuo reports.

It seems that GSEO is working to reduce its reliance on smartphone lens modules and focus on lens modules for augmented reality (AR) and virtual reality (VR) devices.

It was reported that the company’s optical lens for AR headset will be installed in the AR headset being developed by Apple and will be released in 2022.
