It is said that Samsung’s next flagship smartphone, the Galaxy S22 series, has a system-on-chip (SoC) equipped with Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 898 and one equipped with its own Exynos 2200.

Of these, the benchmark results that are supposed to be for the Galaxy S22 equipped with Snapdragon 898 were posted on Geekbench, and the operating frequency of the CPU was clarified.

Cortex-X2 operating frequency is 3.0GHz

The results posted on Geekbench for the Galaxy S22 with Snapdragon 898 are as follows.

Results attributed to Snapdragon 898 posted on Geekbench

The configuration of the CPU core is

  • 1 x 3.0GHz
  • 3 x 2.50GHz
  • 4 x 1.79GHz

It is believed that Arm’s new CPU core, Cortex-X2, will operate at 3.0GHz. The other two types of CPU cores are also considered to be Arm’s new CPU cores, the Cortex-A710 and Cortex-A510.

Regarding CPU performance, it is 475 for single core and 1,393 for multi-core, which is lower than the result of Samsung Exynos 1200 in the middle range, not to mention Snapdragon 888+ which is the flagship SoC of the current generation, and tuning etc. are sufficiently performed. It may be the result in the state where it is not.

The result of Geekbench, which is supposed to belong to Snapdragon 898, was posted before, but the operating frequency of Cortex-X2 was as low as 2.42GHz. However, the score is 720 for single core and 1,919 for multi-core, which is better than this result.

Apple’s newly announced iPhone 13 Geekbench score was 1,730 for single-core and 4,621 for multi-core.

Snapdragon 898 adopted in more regions than before

It is said that some Galaxy S22s are equipped with Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 898 and Samsung’s Exynos 2200, but it is said that the number of regions where Snapdragon 898 will be sold will increase compared to the past.

Of these two SoCs, the Exynos 2200, which uses AMD’s mRDNA architecture, is said to have higher GPU performance.

In addition, the Galaxy S22 series is equipped with a 45W quick charging function, and only the Galaxy S22 Ultra will be equipped with a camera embedded under the screen.

The announcement of the Galaxy S22 series is expected in December 2021.
