Apple has announced that it has fixed the Faca ID vulnerability in iOS 15. With Face ID so far, it was possible to break through Face ID with a three-dimensional model of the user’s face created by 3D duplication technology, and iOS 15 has taken measures to prevent such breakthrough.
Primitive way
Face ID quantifies the characteristics of the user’s face, and it is said that only twins who look exactly like each other can break through the Face ID of others. However, Apple admits that there was a vulnerability that could break through Face ID by creating a three-dimensional model of the face and having the sensor read the model. At the same time, iOS 15 has announced that it is no longer possible to break through this way.
Creating an elaborate model of the face is not difficult with specialized skills (of course, the duplicated user needs to be irresistible), and the security built with Apple’s best technology is also primitive. It means that we were able to break through in various ways. Apple hasn’t announced how to prevent this duplication from breaking through in iOS 15, but it may have incorporated features such as detecting subtle facial movements.
iOS 15 also includes a privacy feature that protects your personal information. It is thought that Apple will continue to evolve iPhone and iOS more strictly so that user information will not be inadvertently leaked to the outside.
