You are now wondering: What is the point of all this? There are several reasons to use the red instead of the white light:

  • In contrast to the white headlight, the red light source is less annoying for your fellow human beings, e.g. B. when you have to go out at night and turn on the flashlight to light your way to the toilet.
  • The same goes for the cinema. If you drop something there and turn on the white light of the Apple Watch to look for it on the floor, you can be sure of the attention of the entire hall. It is less noticeable and disturbing for your neighbors when you switch to the red light. In theater mode, when the flashlight is activated, the red light always comes on by default.
  • If you turn on the white light of the flashlight in a dark environment or at night, your eyes have to switch from night vision to day vision in no time. As you know, the eyes always have to struggle with this adjustment. When using the red light, your night vision is less impaired. B. can easily read something in bed without disturbing your partner who is lying next to you.

There are certainly other specific application scenarios in which the red light proves to be more advantageous. If you like to use your Apple Watch as a flashlight – in whatever situations – you now at least know that with the red light you have a more eye-friendly and less annoying alternative to hand.
