MediaTek, which has the largest market share in the system-on-chip (SoC) market for smartphones, is said to be developing the next flagship SoC, Dimensity 2000.

Information on the more detailed specifications of this Dimensity 2000 has been leaked, and it seems that it will be fully equipped with the latest core of Arm including Cortex-X2.

Equipped with Cortex-X2 / A710 / A510 as CPU core

According to Weibo users’ Digital Chat Station, Dimensity 2000 will be equipped with Arm’s latest CPU cores, the Cortex-X2, Cortex-A710 and Cortex-A510.

This specification has the same configuration as next-generation flagship SoCs such as Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 898 and Samsung’s Exynos 2200.

All three chips may be manufactured on a 4nm process and are likely to be completely competing products.

Compared to Snapdragon 898, Dimensity 2000 is said to be cheaper in terms of price, and there is information that Dimensity 2000 also consumes less power.

Regarding the clock frequency of Cortex-X2, Dimensity 2000 and Exynos 2200 are said to be 3.0GHz, while Snapdragon 898 is aiming for a slightly higher 3.09GHz.

For a game with GPU performance?

On the other hand, these three SoCs have different GPUs.

The Dimensity 2000 is said to be equipped with Arm’s Mali G710, while the Snapdragon 898 is said to be equipped with Adreno 730, and the Exynos 2200 is said to be equipped with a GPU developed with AMD.

There is information that the GPU performance of the Snapdragon 898 is lower than that of the Exynos 2200, but there is no specific performance information about the Mali G710.

Android’s next-generation flagship SoC may be a battle for GPU performance.
