Before the release of the iPhone 13, it was said that Apple was considering adopting the naming method of the iPhone 12s. One is that the number “13” is unlucky in Western countries, and the other is that the upgrade range of the iPhone 13 is limited, and the 12S is more appropriate.
But in the end it proved that some people guessed wrong. In fact, there are latest reports that Apple has completely cut off the “S” naming method, and it will not appear in the future. In other words, there will be no iPhone 13S next year, and if not surprisingly, it will be the iPhone 14.
The core reason is that bringing “S” is not conducive to marketing, which will make consumers potentially think that the new machine has not changed much, and weaken the desire to buy.
It is understood that Apple’s first use of the “S” suffix was the iPhone 3GS that year. Executive Phil Schiller pointed out at that time that “S” stands for “Speed”, which means faster running speed.
But after the iPhone XS in 2018, Apple’s recent generations of iPhones have missed the “S”. In fact, Apple has discovered that suffix words will subtly affect consumers’ purchasing decisions, such as the dismal iPhone 12 mini, “mini” is not a very friendly term.
The current consensus view is that the iPhone 14 series includes four models: 6.1-inch iPhone 14, 6.5-6.7-inch iPhone 14 Max, 6.1-inch iPhone 14 Pro and 6.7-inch iPhone 14 Pro Max.
