It turns out that the US Senate is putting together a bill to keep third parties from giving their services an edge on their platforms in order to curb the movement of major tech companies such as Apple and Google.

Limit priority on in-house services

The new bill, which will be submitted by the US Senate, is expected to impose certain restrictions on the tech companies that operate the platform to emphasize their services more than others.

For example, Apple may place ads for Apple Music when it searches for Tidal or Spotify on the App Store, or Google may display its services at the top of search results. Others include unfairly exploiting and competing with corporate data and unfairly interfering with third-party services on the platform.

Tightening on Apple is likely to increase

The House of Representatives has already passed a bill called the American Choice and Innovation Online Act, and the Senate will consider amending this bill.

Both bills are expected to allow apps to be downloaded (sideloaded) without going through the App Store, and Apple has long opposed the bill.

In addition to this bill, it supports the Open App Markets Act, which prohibits not a few lawmakers from requesting developers for their payment systems in connection with the trial with Epic Games. , Apple and other platformers are likely to be hit harder in the future.
