Ryzen’s performance degradation problem in Windows 11, update distribution started

Windows Update with KB5006746

We already know that Windows 11 has some glitches, one of which is poor performance when using AMD’s Ryzen.

There are two factors in this issue, and Microsoft has released an update for one of them.

KB5006746 solves Ryzen’s long L3 cache latency issue

Newly delivered is a cumulative update called KB5006746.

This update resolves an issue with longer L3 cache latencies when using AMD’s Ryzen.

Another performance degradation issue that occurs with the combination of Ryzen and Windows 11 is the CPU core scheduling issue, which will be released by AMD.

When I checked it on my PC, KB5006746 was already distributed and it was ready to be installed manually.

Improved blue screen and Bluetooth mouse / keyboard issues

In addition to Ryzen’s L3 cache latency issue, KB5006746 has various fixes.

In particular,

  • A race condition that can cause a blue screen during boot
  • Bluetooth mouse / keyboard slow response issue
  • Problems with renaming files when using Japanese IME

Etc. have been fixed.

KB5006746 is called a preview release, and was released early for those who are having trouble with problems.

If there are no particular problems, this content will be included in the monthly cumulative update program in November, so we recommend that you do not apply it unless you are having trouble with the problem.
