Expanding scale to expand production of LTPO display for iPhone 14 series ~ Samsung

iPhone14 2022 ProMotion AD

Korean media The Elec says Samsung Display will expand production for low temperature Polycrystalline Oxide (LTPO) organic EL (OLED) displays for the iPhone 14 series, which are expected to ship more in 2022. I reported.

Expanded mobile OLED display panel production line

According to TheElec, Samsung Display has ordered a supplier for the production equipment it plans to use for its new mobile OLED display panel production line, called the A4E.

The new production line will use 6th generation (1,500mm x 1,850mm) substrates to manufacture small OLED display panels for smartphones.

The A4E will be built at the Samsung Display factory in Asan, South Korea, where the L7-2 line, which used to manufacture LCD panels, was located.

Will production increase for the iPhone 14 series?

The A3 and A4-1 lines have also been improved to add steps to accommodate Y-OCTA touch and LTPO-thin film transistor (TFT) technologies.

For this reason, some devices have been replaced and are no longer in use. These will be reused in A4E to complement the manufacture of LTPO-TFT display panels.

All four models of the iPhone 14 series are expected to be equipped with an LTPO-TFT-OLED display panel.
