The judge ordered the Apple App Store to allow developers to add external payment links before December 9

After the hearing earlier today, Judge Yvonne Gonzalez Rogers rejected Apple’s request to postpone the permanent injunction, which would require Apple to make major changes to the App Store.

The judge ordered the Apple App Store to allow developers to add external payment links before December 9

As part of the judgment in the Apple v. Epic lawsuit, Rogers asked Apple to allow developers to add links and buttons to external payment options without delay.

In the initial ruling, Apple was given 90 days to implement these changes. Apple filed a request in October for more time. Apple hopes to wait until all appeals in the Epic v. Apple lawsuit are completed before implementing any new App Store features. The judge did not provide Apple with additional time to add the required App Store features, and Apple must make changes to the App Store before December 9.

Except that it may take time to implement the changes, Apple did not provide credible reasons for the court to believe that the injunction would cause the destructive effects it claims.

As part of the class action settlement, Apple in August removed the rules that restricted developers from contacting users via email.

Apple told The Verge that after being rejected by Judge Rogers, it would appeal to the Ninth Circuit to request a suspension of the lawsuit. Apple believes that it should not require additional business changes to take effect until all appeals in this case are resolved. Apple intends to request the Ninth Circuit to suspend enforcement based on these circumstances.
