MediaTek claims that Dimensity 9000 multi-core performance is comparable to Apple’s iPhone 13 A15 chip, and overall it is 35% better than Snapdragon 888

IT Home News on November 21, according to 9to5 Google reports, MediaTek provides chip support for quite a few Android phones, but the company’s high-end products have never reached the level of the Qualcomm Snapdragon series before. However, MediaTek’s latest Dimensity 9000 may eventually change this story, provided the company’s claims are true.

In an event this week, MediaTek released the Dimensity 9000, which is the company’s most powerful chip to date. In terms of raw performance, the chip performance will be about 35% faster than Snapdragon 888, and has a 35% increase in GPU performance.

IT Home is informed that the architecture of Dimensity 9000 is based on TSMC’s 4nm process, using one Cortex-X2 core with a main frequency of 3.05GHz, three Cortex-A710 cores with a main frequency of 2.85GHz, and four cores with a main frequency of 1.8 GHz Cortex-A510 core, Mali-G710 GPU ten cores, APU consists of four performance cores and two flexible cores. The core of APU is used for AI artificial intelligence.

In order to further improve the function of the chip, the image signal processor is a 7th generation 18-bit Imagiq ISP, which can capture 320MP images and transmit data at a speed of 9 billion pixels per second. The on-board modem can achieve 5G, but it is only a sub-6GHz standard, not millimeter wave. This means that the chip is likely not to be used in the United States, because major US operators are very concerned about millimeter wave 5G. This chip can also support Bluetooth 5.3 and Wi-Fi 6E.

In the benchmark application, MediaTek said that Dimensity 9000’s multi-core score is roughly equivalent to Apple’s iPhone 13’s A15, with a score of more than 4000. However, MediaTek did not disclose the comparison with other aspects of Apple’s chips. Generally speaking, Apple’s chips are often much more powerful than other mobile chips.

At the same time, in terms of artificial intelligence, MediaTek claims that this Dimensity 9000 chip beats the Google Tensor chip. Judging from the current situation, Tensor has shown that it has the strongest artificial intelligence performance on mobile chips. However, MediaTek claims that Dimensity 9000 AI performance will exceed Tensor by about 16% and exceed Apple’s latest chip by as much as 66%.
