Yesterday, Apple quietly launched an extension called “iCloud Passwords” for Google Chrome browser users. It is reported that this update is part of iCloud 12.0 for the Windows platform. As the name suggests, it mainly adds support for the iCloud “key chain” function to the browser.
After obtaining the iCloud application update through the Microsoft Store, you will see the password section marked with “iCloud Keychain”.
Click the “Apply” button and iCloud will prompt you to download the “iCloud Passwords” extension for Google Chrome.
Foreign media found after actual testing that clicking “After downloading” will indeed open the Chrome browser. However, this function seems to be unfinished, and the browser page prompts a 404 error.
Prior to this, the iCloud Keychain function has been limited to Apple’s own ecology. In time on Mac computers, this feature is also limited to the native Safari browser.
However, the upcoming Google Chrome extension has already hinted that Apple is about to change the closed situation of iCloud Keychain to allow the majority of Windows users to enjoy the benefits of iCloud Keychain.
It is reported that iCloud Keychain is a secure password management service launched by Apple. After storage, it can be bound to a personal Apple ID, can span different devices, and help users fill out forms automatically.
