Apple TV + monthly credit grant campaign extended until June

best of 2020

Apple TV + registered users are currently given $ 4.99 a month in store credit (600 yen in Japan), but we’ve found that this campaign will be extended until June 2021.

Apple TV + continues to be virtually free

Apple TV + is now available for a 7-day free trial that anyone can use when signing up, as well as a free trial for up to a year after purchase for new purchases of eligible Apple products.

However, Apple has made various campaigns “substantially free” for users who are not covered by the above and are normally subject to monthly billing.

The first is a uniform campaign to extend the free period until the end of February. Users who registered with Apple TV + at the same time as the service started in November 2019 should have been charged from October 2020, but Apple will be charged uniformly until February 28, 2020 regardless of the application time. It’s free.

The second is a store credit grant campaign. Since November 2020, Apple has been offering $ 4.99 monthly store credits to Apple TV + users “to show gratitude to users who have subscribed to the service.” The campaign was supposed to end in January 2021, but Apple has announced a new extension of its monthly grant until June 2021.

Credits are granted to the registrant’s Apple ID and can be used by users for games, movies, and other Apple services.

Is it related to the sluggish growth of registered users?

The reason why Apple continues such a large-scale behavior on Apple TV + seems to be related to the fact that the growth of registered users has been pointed out.

A July 2020 survey of US homes found that Disney +, which began service at the same time, was used by 28% of homes, while Apple TV + was only used by 7%.
