Apple intensifies its review of “irrational high price” apps

Apple is stepping up its efforts to review “irrationally high-priced” apps. If an app is deemed to be too expensive for in-app purchases, Apple will reject it from the App Store.

Judging from the email received by a developer, the developer’s application was rejected by the App Store review team. The email cited section 3 of the App Store review guidelines, and reviewers will not approve “pirated” applications.

Specifically, Section 3 stipulates that Apple “will not distribute obviously pirated apps and in-app purchases.” It added that Apple will “reject expensive apps that try to deceive users at unreasonably high prices”.

This policy has been implemented for some time, but it seems that enforcement has increased. For example, a developer wrote last year that their app was rejected for a monthly fee of $39.99.

There are other posts on the Apple Developer Forum that indicate that Apple seems to be paying close attention to higher-priced applications.

In addition, Apple once stated to foreign media 9to5Mac that this policy is part of its commitment to provide users with a secure store. Apple added that reviewers will reject apps that pirate or deceive users.
