Previously, according to a survey on Reddit, 74 out of 221 respondents believed that their M1Air or Pro had malfunctioned after using a hub. Most of the problems seem to come from the use of third-party hubs and docking stations. In the update instructions, Apple called them “third-party non-compliant” powered USB-C hubs and docking stations. In any case, it is recommended that all users update immediately.

Now, users can click “System Preferences”-“Software Update” to download the new “macOSBigSur‌11.2.2” update for free on all eligible Macs.

macOSBigSur is the 17th major version of macOS, Apple’s desktop operating system for Macintosh computers. It is the successor of macOSCatalina. It was announced at the Apple Worldwide Developers Conference on June 22, 2020, and officially launched on November 12, 2020. Compared with the previous versions, macOS BigSur has a deeper and huge change, including a redesigned graphical user interface, native support for iOS and iPadOS applications, to transition to the future Mac equipped with AppleARM architecture processor.
