The iPhone X, owned by a man living in Melbourne, Australia, suffered a second degree burn after exploding in his jeans pocket, Australian media 7 News reported.
Severe pain with a bubbling sound
While Melbourne-based scientist Robert de Rose was sitting in a chair and working in the office, he suddenly felt a sharp pain in his right leg.
It occurred with a bubbling noise, and I soon noticed that it was coming from near the iPhone X in my jeans pocket, and when I took it out, it seemed that black smoke was rising from the iPhone X.
Mr. De Rose’s jeans were burnt, and he himself suffered a second degree burn on his right leg, and his skin was peeled off.
Two prosecutions against Apple
De Rose has issued a warning to other users regarding this matter, as well as prosecuting and seeking compensation against Apple.
According to 7News, a man in Melbourne has filed a complaint against Apple claiming that he had “burned his wrist due to an abnormal fever on his Apple Watch,” seeking compensation for personal injury from Apple devices. Seems to be the second case, including the case of Mr. De Rose.
An Apple spokeswoman said, “Apple is taking customer safety seriously and is investigating these two complaints,” 7 News reports.
