2021 Mac shipment growth rate doubles overall PC-Canalys research

Apple MacBook Pro

Research firm Canalys reports that Apple’s Mac shipment growth in 2021 almost doubled that of PC shipments as a whole.

Mac shipments increased 28.3% year-on-year

According to the latest Canalys research report, shipments of Macs in 2021 were about 29 million units, an increase of 28.3% over the previous year. This growth rate was the highest among the top five shipping companies.

This has increased Apple’s share of the PC market in 2021 from 7.6% in 2020 to 8.5%.

MacBook Pro with M1 Pro / Max is doing well

In 2021, the total number of PCs shipped was 341 million units, and the year-on-year growth rate was 14.6%.

In other words, the growth rate of Mac shipments has reached about twice that of PCs as a whole.

The MacBook Pro with the M1 Pro and M1 Max released in October 2021 probably contributed to this strong performance, according to US media 9to5Mac.

Lenovo will be the number one PC shipment for the full year 2021, with approximately 82.1 million units, and Apple will be number four.
