Chinese media MyDrivers reported that the design of the A16 Bionic to be installed in the iPhone 14 series has been completed and will be manufactured by TSMC’s 4nm process.

Manufacturing with 4nm process will increase the price by about 8% to 10%

MyDrivers reports that the A16 Bionic in the iPhone 14 series will be manufactured using TSMC’s 4nm process (Fab 18).

Apple seems to have secured 120,000 to 150,000 wafers for the A16 Bionic, but due to the shortage of semiconductors, the purchase price seems to increase by about 8% to 10% compared to 2021.

As Apple is TSMC’s largest customer, this price increase rate is kept low compared to other companies, MyDrivers said.

The A16 Bionic is equipped with a 6-core CPU and is expected to support Wi-Fi 6E.

M2 series and 5G modem will also be manufactured by TSMC

According to MyDrivers, the design of the M2 chip will be completed soon.

The M2 chip is expected to be announced in late 2022 and the M2 Pro and M2 Max in early 2023, both manufactured by TSMC.

TSMC is also rumored to manufacture Apple’s proprietary 5G modem.
