The country’s largest authorized Apple reseller did not open on March 2, 2022, according to Russian publication Podyom (aka Rise!). However, a spokesman for the re:Store chain said the closures were only temporary.

“Today’s decision to close the re:Store store is temporary, due to the need to assess the current market situation,” Lyudmila Semushina, head of public relations at Inventive Retail Group in Moscow, told Pdyom. “Stores will continue to work as usual in the near future.” Meanwhile, iPhones.ru reports that online Apple resellers have also raised prices significantly. “The cost of Apple products has skyrocketed almost everywhere,” the site said. “The most expensive MacBook Pro reaches 1.138 million rubles”. That’s about $11,000, which is amazing. Assuming that iPhones.ru was referring to the most expensive custom MacBook Pro model Apple officially sells, it would have cost $3,190. This is based on the latest prices before the closure of Apple’s Russian store.

Other examples cited include the 1TB iPhone 13 Pro Max now priced at 308,679 rubles, or roughly $2,940. Apple’s online store in Russia was priced at $1,523 at the time.

Although sales websites are constantly charging high prices for Apple hardware, this does not mean that customers will actually buy it. In the case of the ruble crisis, the demand for Apple hardware in Russia is not severe.

According to a 2020 study, Statista estimates that sales of Apple merchandise in the entire Russian region are $2.5 billion.
