Ming-Chi Kuo was referring to a tweet he posted last week when he said: “Apple may not launch new mini LED products this year due to cost considerations”. However, 9to5Mac and analyst Ross Young previously believed that Apple will launch a new Mini LED display in the next few months.

Ming-Chi Kuo re-emphasized: Apple iPad Pro 11-inch 2022 model will not be equipped with Mini LED screen

Here’s what Ross Young had to say in a report shared a few days ago:

“For the rest of the year, Apple can grab share with just one product in this category. While it was previously thought that Apple would also introduce Mini LEDs in the 11-inch iPad Pro, we no longer believe that will be the case, at least Not this year. Apple is reportedly targeting its Mini LEDs on larger and more expensive displays. We do expect Apple to introduce Mini LEDs on 27-inch displays, which will likely launch with the Mac Pro in June. We believe the 27-inch Mini LED display will have 5K resolution and an oxide backplane. It could also be at 120Hz, but 5K at 120Hz requires HDMI 2.1 and will limit the number of Apple devices that can be used with this display.”

9to5Mac also reports that an Apple Studio Display with a higher resolution than the Pro Display XDR is in the works. Apple is likely to use mini LED technology on this product.

As of now, rumors about the 2022 iPad Pro talk about an M2 chip, MagSafe compatibility, and better battery life. If all goes well, Apple should launch its new Pro tablet in the second half of the year.

It’s important to note that without the mini LED, the 11-inch iPad Pro will look more similar to the new iPad Air 5.
