IOS 16 was announced at the keynote speech at the World Developers Conference (WWDC 22) held before dawn on June 7, Japan time, and then Beta 1 was released to developers. It seems that there is a lot of research on what’s in the new OS, but it turns out that iOS 16 supports the unreleased smart speaker HomePod.

Is it a new device expected to be released by March next year?

A survey of iOS16 Beta 1 on the US Media 9to5Mac found that iOS16 supports a smart speaker labeled “AudioAccessory6”. The HomePod mini is “AudioAccessory5” and the original HomePod is “AudioAccessory1”.

Unfortunately, it is said that no details other than the internal notation are known, but this “AudioAccessory6” is from the famous analyst Minchi Kuo in the 4th quarter of 2022 (October to December) to the 2023th. It has been pointed out that it may be a new HomePod model that is expected to be released in one quarter (January to March).

Are there many changes?

Regarding the new HomePod, Mr. Kuo said, “The hardware changes are not big,” and 9to5Mac speculates that it may just update the contents of the HomePod mini.
