The Geekbench benchmark database shows that the M2 scored 1919/8928 in single-core/multi-core respectively.

The test equipment is equipped with 16GB LPDDR5 memory and the CPU base frequency is 3.49 GHz.

● M2 – single-core 1919 / multi-core 8929

● M1 – single-core 1720 / multi-core 7474

M2 compared to M1 – single-core improvement + 12%, multi-core improvement +19%.

It should be pointed out that both M1 and M2 here have 4 performance CPU cores + 4 energy efficient CPU cores.

But no matter what combination of core counts is used, Apple mentioned it during WWDC 2022 – the M2 architecture improvement means users will see significant performance improvements.

M2 – CPU Geekbench

In terms of graphics, the M2 can be equipped with up to 10 GPU cores. In the end, it scored 30,627 points in the Metal benchmark, which is nearly half of the M1’s 20,440 points.

Obviously, Apple’s high-frequency “unified memory” for the M2 also plays a very important role in it – the controller has a bandwidth of up to 100 GB/s, leading the M1 by 50%.

The second is the improvement of the architecture: Although the M2 SoC follows the TSMC 5nm process, Apple still claims that its CPU performance is 18% higher than that of the M1 (multi-core test +19%).

In a variety of test scenarios, the improvement of M2 compared to M1 is quite significant. However, the Geekbench test conditions are relatively one-sided after all. Friends who are hesitant to buy the 2022 MacBook, please wait patiently for a more detailed test report.
