Navitime Japan announced on August 10, 2022 that it will start offering “ETC-exclusive toll gate avoidance routes” with three navigation apps.
Support for ETC-only toll gate avoidance route started
From August 10, 2022, routes that avoid ETC-only tollgates and icon display on the map in the truck-only car navigation app “Truck Car Navi”, the car navigation app “Car Navi Time”, and the bike-only navigation app “Touring Supporter” functionality is provided.
The launch of the ETC-only toll gate avoidance route is an improvement in response to the ETC-only expressway. Expressway tolls are also displayed without ETC discount.
Navitime Japan announces that the launch of this function will help prevent vehicles that are not equipped with ETC, such as those in the land transportation industry, from accidentally entering ETC-only toll gates.
Color-coded display of interchanges
ETC-only toll gates on the map are distinguished by the color of the icon. General interchanges are blue, while ETC-only toll gates and smart ICs are displayed in purple.
Car Navi Time displays support lanes as icons in case a vehicle not equipped with ETC accidentally enters an ETC-only toll gate. can be confirmed.
Other apps will be supported in the future
Navitime Japan also reports that “NAVITIME Drive Supporter”, “EV Car Navigation by NAVITIME” and “Bus Car Navigation” will be compatible with this function in the future.
