Will the iPhone 14/Pro series use eSIM? This year’s iPhone 14/Pro will continue to use the SIM card slot or switch to eSIM?
An eSIM is a digital SIM card that enables users to activate a carrier-provided cellular number without having to use a physical nano-SIM card.
The availability of eSIMs is expanding rapidly, and eSIMs are undoubtedly more convenient than SIMs. Recently, it is reported that Apple has considered removing the SIM card slot from some iPhone 14 / Pro series models, and the SIM card slot of some iPhone 14 models may be removed. In fact, the idea of launching some iPhones without SIM card slots by next year has been discussed internally at Apple, a move that would be part of Apple’s push for eSIM adoption.
But eSIM is not currently available in all countries, so some iPhone models with SIM card slots will still be available in the interim. iPhones in mainland China do not currently support eSIM. In Hong Kong and Macau, iPhone 13 mini, iPhone 12 mini, iPhone SE (2nd and 3rd generation), and iPhone XS support eSIM.
Apple is expected to release the iPhone 14 / Pro series at a special event in the early hours of September 8th, Beijing time. Other products that may be released include the Apple Watch Series 8, the new Apple Watch SE, the Apple Watch Pro and the new AirPods Pro.
