Recognition problems occur in videos shot in cinematic mode on iOS16

cinematic mode

Two weeks have passed since the official version of iOS16 was released, and some bugs have been reported and fixed, but there is a bug that movies shot in cinematic mode are not recognized by iMovie and Final Cut Pro. is reported.

Apple hasn’t officially acknowledged the bug yet

On the Apple Support Forum and Reddit, it was reported that Apple’s video editors iMovie and Final Cut Pro could not open videos shot in iOS 16 cinematic mode.

iOS 16 is believed to have broken the functionality of Final Cut Pro, and the error “Unable to enable cinematic effects” is displayed. According to another user, this error also occurs when using iMovie.

Unfortunately, Apple has not yet acknowledged this bug and has not provided a software update to fix it. As a temporary workaround for the bug, a method has been proposed to edit a video shot in cinematic video on the iPhone and share the video with the Mac via AirDrop.

Introduced in the iPhone 13 model, Cinematic mode applies a depth-of-field effect that beautifully blurs the foreground and background while sharpening the subject of the video. In the Photos app, you can change the subject in focus and effect, and adjust the background blur (or depth of field) in your cinematic mode videos. You can also turn off effects.
