To tame a wolf you need to feed them with bones, sometimes it takes more than 3 bones to tame a wolf.
Dog will attack a mob that harm you except the mob hasn't harm you yet.
Dog will also attack a mob that you attack.

If you tame a wolf it would became a dog, in case you had a dog
You can name the dog with a name tag but to use the name tag you must write the dog's name in the anvil
Sorry if i do not explain it clearly to you.
Note/P.S: If you had a dog, make sure the dog didn't die because if the dog dies it will be a total regret and dissapointment for you.
