MacBook Pro Version 12.0.1 #PhotoBooth Fix

This is the fix I implemented for my Photo Booth problem after speaking with a member of the Apply support team. I am using the MacBook Pro version 12.0.1, M1, 2020.
Initially, I was able to take photos and use the app’s recording feature; however, the recording feature stopped working after one of the updates. The count-down timer would run, and the recording frame would freeze. After implementing this fix, my Photo Booth is now working.

  1. Thank you! The summary is:
    1) shutdown your computer
    2) start your computer in safe mode (google how to do this)
    3) test out photobooth in safe mode. confirm it records a video without freezing.
    4) shut down your computer
    5) start your computer in "regular" mode
    6) test out photobooth and confirm it records video without freezing.

  2. I had the problem for 1.5 years, since 2021.. I reinstalled MacOS even, did everything, saw this video after I finally got fed up and sold my Mac to get a linux laptop instead. Fortunately I sold my Mac to a friend, Ill try the fix on the Mac of my friend now and update my comment. I just wanna note that, it is so frustrating apple has not addressed this issue at all and is not wildly known at all..Btw, its not good to leave the system in safe mode, does the app still work in normal mode after you exit safe mode?

  3. Thank you so much for this video! I tried so many ways to get the photo booth to work but this one was the only solution that actually worked!
