M1 MacBook Pro 16 for Engineers??? (2021 – M1 Max Review)
In this video I am sharing my experience with running some Windows apps using a virtual machine on the new M1 Max MacBook Pro 16.
I used an ARM version of Windows on the Free Virtual Machine app, UTM.
The performance was quite smooth, despite some problems with GPU support.
In future videos, I will share my experience with Parallel Desktop that supports GPU on M1 Macs.
May I ask how to set up PD so that NX can run smoothly in PD? Currently running NX CAM on PD using WIN11, the performance is very poor, GPU is 100%, I am macbook pro m2 intel i9 2.9 ghz
Hamid you really make good videos given how busy you are without significant back-office support. I am really impressed. No matter what happens to your channel growth, please continue to make videos as you are obviously passionate about what you do and that's what matters at the end
Hello Hamid, thanks for your comprehensive comparison. I cant believe that little mac mini or macbook can compete with the workstations. I am thinking to buy mac mini pro m2 (16 gb, 512 gb) version, on the other hand, I can build i5 13500, 32gb ddr5, quadro a2000 system at same price. So I am a bit confused, could you help me to decide, or what will be your choise? Disregard mobility of mac products. I will use them on desk. I will use logic on macos side, i will use catia (moslty surface modeling and assemblies) and various windows apps on the windows side.
Hi Hamid, great videos thank you! What version of M1 MAX do you have? 24 or 32 core GPU?
Kindly confirm for me if CIVIL 3D & ETABS works on M1 MacBook pro M1
Which specification of mackbook required for Solidworks unsing
I really intersted to know more about Etabs benchmark , and also about the experiance with autocad in such a machine
Could you also show how’s the performance using civil3d? Please.. and thank you. What specs do you recommend?
Do you know if software like Proteus / Autodesk / Autoship work on M1 Macbook Pro?
Could you show ETABS working on M1 Macbook Pro, please?
I literally wanted to know if ETABs works
thanks for the great information, I am only interested in the 14” and I am intending to use it for RC plane modelling with fusion 360 along with running RC simulator (Aerofly software). Also I am just a beginner and it is just a hobby. So I am really lost with so many MacBook pro models. Which one do you recommend for the best choice for my needs, start learning fusion 360 and for running the rc simulator along with my day to day use at work. Advice please.
Best regards
Someone using UTM! And great idea to use Microsoft Remote Desktop.
Another +1 for encouraging you to run Abaqus on M1 and showing us the performance comparisons
I was wondering how ANSYS would work on these machines. Im at uni so Im limited to roughtly 120k elements so im not sure if the macbook would be able to handle that due to the small element count
Looks impeccable to me. Have a blast Hamid!
Looking forward to seeing some videos on the overall user experience on OS X on this laptop, specifically in comparison to pre-M1 era MacBooks
Thank you for the efforts. Would you please test how good Solidworks and Ansys perform on the VM M1 mac?
Congratulations on the new toy 😂👍 have fun working with it
