The 2 biggest problems with Apple earbuds and headphones is they never have even 1/3 of the volume alot of people want and like but Apple limits the bass. Even the Airpods Max don't have enough bass. More bass that just thumps is better than light bass that's clean.

Apple didn’t say they should fit everyone. That’s impossible. For me especially the original AirPods are too big. I have really tiny ear canals. These new ones are even bigger. Apple said no matter how they fit someone that the sound would sound great on them, that’s what they said not that this new design will fit everyone.

No noise cancellation is a red flag for me right away, definitely would go with the beats studio buds (which are also by apple) that have active noise cancellation in my opinion
I’m just glad they went back to a design that fits in my ear again.
