Man these silicon chips have really changed the game, my $3k+ i7 iMac I got in 2018 is being outperformed by the M1 Macbook Air (4444 geekbench vs 7400 for MB air). 28 core Mac Pro is right at 20k, the new Studio with M1 Ultra is over 24k. I cant even imagine what the Silicon Mac Pro is gonna be like.

13. Very nice, quiet review! Good job! I also love my 16". Sometimes I wish I had the 14", because I found it more cumbersome to use in the train. Apart from that, it has been the best laptop I have ever used and it is better than my 2017" MPB 13" in every way, apart from portability.

14. Given the amazing performance this computer is capable of, would you recommend still using an external SSD to edit off of or would you stick to strictly using the internal SSD?

16. The same thing for me, I had the M1 Mac Mini and I had to be at my desk to do real work. Ended up getting the base model, and I feel like I have more power and I'm back to being mobile. Just being able to work around the crib again and have a lot of power has helped me be more productive.

17. I think that's what helped me wait for this computer come out – The portability. I hate editing in the same spot for a long time so it's been a blessing

20. Great video YC!! I have a question though bro. When you edit hard to read 4K codec like from an R5, R6 do you still need to creat a proxy file to edit the footage? I’m really curious about this…. Thanks!!

24. I got the 14 inch M1 Pro with the 1tb and for music and film production, (editing 6K black magic raw) this thing is a beast even though it’s not the Max. It’s way faster than my 2019 16 inch

28. Well that's all I needed was a video from someone who shoots music videos as well. I was debating getting it speced out. This will be my most expensive computer I've bought hopefully it last me some good years thesis for the video

32. I also really needed something portable after having the Mac Mini M1 for a year. Obviously I was tempted to get the new Macbook Pro/Max but in the end I settled for a Macbook Air M1 because I really had no issues with the Mac Mini M1 other than lack of portability. Not that I planned it but I think I'm more comfortable in a 1-2 year computer renewal cycle where I'm just going to buy the base models instead of future proofing. I burnt my fingers with future proofing when I imported a custom spec 2019 16" Macbook Pro 32gb & 8gb GPU and then it got demolished by the M1…😅

45. Cannot stand editing on this laptop. The mouse pad is horrid, not fast enough render speeds, Windows has treated me way better

47. For me I don't have a good computer to edit on at all. Just using a cheap HP desktop computer that I have to share with family members. Sucks! But, I'm just beginning so I hope soon in a year or so I can actually upgrade to that MacBook.
