  1. My quick contribution which I have posted to several Mini reviews on YT. An endeavour to shared my long-term experiences/review with the device. It may help others make a more educated decision.

The large variety of productivity & entertainment uses for the Mini demonstrates how versatile it can be for so many people. Master of Nun – But Good at a lot of stuff – Fine by me!!!

I bought an iPad Mini 2 Cellular 12 years ago. I do not browse with it – I'm an adult – so I use my 14" laptop to browse and an Apple TV for viewing shit on the flat screen at home.

I use my Mini exclusively when I "TRAVEL" – to do the following: (otherwise it sits in a drawer).

55% – as a GPS unit mounted to a RAM mount in my vehicles.- the best GPS "EVER"! I downloaded the "Navigon" app (a Garmin app) and spent $60 for all North American Map Data. This App has not been updated for 5 years now – but still works just fine – some newest roads are not displayed but who gives a Flying F (the iPhone fills the gap). That's after over 200K miles of road trips. FYI – lots of pilots use the Mini for realtime in-flight information
40% – as a Sidecar or screen mirroring when viewing YT & movies mounted to a magnet.
    4% – as an eReader
1% – the odd miscellaneous task. This usage distribution may change when I buy the 7 – a/w the pencil – time will tell…

AMAZINGLY this iPad still works very well with few glitches. Of course the battery is not up to scratch but as I use it mainly in my Van Conversion or Hot Hatch etc – there is always a USB plug nearby. Off course it is slow – but not excrutiatingly slow. I have recently two sided taped a metal ring (MagSafe magnet compatible without the charge) so when the Mini is in Sidecar mode it works on the multiple magsafe magnets I have in the van.

I will likely buy the new Mini 7 when it comes out real SOON!?! The Mini is simply a great portable high performance device that sits between an iPhone & MBA is complimentary and is an essential device (for me when traveling) doing specific tasks.

  2. I got the iPad mini 6 on launch day, I love this thing. Just got my wife the iPad Air 5 for $450 (Best Buy sale), and got $185 trade on her iPad 9. Why? I used to be able to upgrade her iPad annually for under $100. With the launch of the 10, the price went way up and the trade value went way down. So this Air with the M1 (and much better, laminated display) will last her at least 5 years. She doesn't take photos with her iPad nor use it for video-conferencing and the M1 is plenty powerful (hell, it's same chip her desktop has) so not concerned about the rumored updates coming next month.

  3. Damn I was looking to get an new iPad for my mom, but I'm just gonna wait for next month to get the new iPad Pro and give my current iPad Pro M2 to my mama 😂

  4. I purchased an IPad Pro back in 2020. I love Procreate and decided on a TB of memory for storing images. After two years Procreate started crashing. Trip to nerd squad only temporarily solved my problem. Fast forward to now and my Pro is basically a paperweight. I've had two laptops from Apple also and don't feel as if I got my money's worth from either of them. I won't be buying top of the line anything – Apple (along with most companies) have planned obsolescence in their products. Just continually upgrade while your IPad is still worth something and plan on doing this for the rest of your life. I've had a Samsung Galaxy phone for YEARS and have ZERO problems even now. But I love ease of use from Apple products and hate Microsoft. I have a freezer that's older than I am (54) that's STILL RUNNING. If you're wondering why life is so expensive it's because of planned obsolescence.

  5. I think Apple forgot the ipad is there main ipad. Now its the lesser version, when originally it got all the new features first it turned into the last ipad to get anything new.

The Ipad 9th gen is a horrible buy in my opinion in 2024 as it came out in 2021. The mini 6 & 10th generation being $100 off are the best buys. $350 & $399 for an A14 chip or A15 chip. Considering the iPhone 13 & 14 lines use those chipsets they will have longer support.

I have a mini 5 and can say the A12 is slowing down. So I would assume this year the 8th gen ipad and mini 5 is on it last update, due to performance.

All these iPads are going on Sale because March is coming. We had no ipads last year.

I think in March’s event the 11th gen and mini 7 are most likely to be released.
Due to them clearing stock. I also think the 11th gen will be revealed before any of them. I would assume the airs & pros come out later in the year.

But with Apple you never know. But if there is an ipad event then all models could be renewed.
But the 9th gen ipad is fer sure going goodbye this year.

I could see them holding onto the 10th gen ipad for a year longer as well and dropping the price to $349 to keep a budget price.

Considering 2020 was the 10 year anniversary of the iPad & the 8th Gen was released. I would expect Apple to also make hype about the 10th Ipad model. But they didnt.

Realistically I would like to see a price decrease. As $350 is the perfect price for the 10th gen ipad. Then maybe its time to stop the ipad only line. As it gets previous Air features now. Just make an Ipad SE.

My issue with the ipad line is the naming, price and options of storage.

I dont think the mini should be more, or have more features than the ipad 10th gen. Also its weird theres a usbc port and idk if they released a usbc apple pencil.

The costs to produce the product sold is 50% more.
So the pro being $500 to produce costs $1,000.
I would imagine if trade in incentives were better new products would be lower. Using materials. The prices will only go up as materials decline to produce.

Idk just my thoughts & opinions.

  6. Question: When the iPad 10th gen is hooked up to a PC monitor do you no longer get the annoying black bars on either side of the screen? Did Apple fix this with latest update?

  7. Man i’m struggling i had to return 3 laptops so far… i want one with a solid display doesn’t have to be touch, heavy work use and photo use, i’m struggling on it… they are all so close together and with the amd and intel naming and cores. decent laptop no more than 1200.

  8. I got the iPad 9th Gen in 2023 and I love it. The iPad itself is a powerhouse for me because I only use it for watching videos and movies, playing light games, and occasionally drawing. The front camera is great quality, the screen size is perfect, the screen quality is great for the price, and this is my opinion but I prefer the Home Button on iPads. It's also not very expensive starting at 329 USD on Apple's website, which is a great price for the quality and the things you get. It also has a HEADPHONE JACK, which you don't see on Apple products nowadays but it is really convenient. The only thing that I don't like is that it's not USB type C capable, but even that isn't a very big issue to me. In short, the iPad 9th Gen is a great budget-friendly choice if you are using it for light tasks (such as the ones mentioned before), or if you aren't looking to blow that much money on an iPad.

  9. I need help im a student & im planning to buy an ipad air + 2nd gen apple pencil for note taking, wathcing lecture videos, doing presentation etc. With that, do i really need a smart folio keyboard ?? Cu the one from apple is so expensive & im kinda feeling guilty conscious since its my mum's money..is there any other alternative good recommendations ? Please help

  10. If you are a student ona tight budget the current normal ipad or previous gen are the best deals! If you have extra to splurge an air is perfect either 4th or 5th. But still if you are a student using it for note taking! Light editing(the occasional movie for your speech class) if you are in anything that requires heavy usage like graphic design, editing, get a pro or a supped up MacBook.

  11. I am gonna be collage student very soon and started looking for high performance and long life tablet.I have no limit on budget and l can wait for new ones if it’s coming l’ve been searching but couldn’t find anything help
