  1. It's funny to hear you say a render can actually take 20 minutes. I've been editing since the early days of digital and used to endure multi day renders, regular crashing and lip sync issues.

  2. I found someone who can help me 🙂

I have a cruel doubt here: Mac Studio M2 Max (entry $1999) or Macbook Pro M3 Pro (up to 12 CPU cores and 36GB memory)

I work with video redering and photo editing. Can you help me?

  3. There's no way it should take 22 mins to render a YouTube video…. I have the M1 Pro with 16gb of memory and unless I'm putting tonnes of noise reduction or grain it never takes that long? I swear there's something with your settings and you say no I won't switch to Davinci but will be willing to pay $4k for a laptop. Now obviously maybe the video you're editing is just super long so even with efficient editing encoding it still takes a long time.
But yes, the M3 Max doesn't have a huge upgrade in video editing and more in graphics etc.
I just don't understand how the text editing is bad? You genuinely shouldn't dismiss moving away from Premiere Pro because it sucks and has been a huge bottleneck in my business so many times and made me miss deadlines because it would just crash or bug out… So I now use Davinci Resolve and it crashes, maybe 3 times a year over the 3 to 5 times a week.

  4. I want upgrade my old PC (Ryzen 5 1600 & GTX 1070) to PC who can handle Video Editing 4K 4:2:2 10 Bit H.265 without Proxies on premiere pro or davinci resolve

Can you advise me, which better should i buy?

Windows PC that have Intel i7 14700k & RTX 4060 OR Mac Studio M2 Max?

Because the price really similar in my country, and for game i just play DOTA2, Valorant, and other light games. (maybe i still use old PC for the gaming)

  5. You said, You have 2 degrees and 20 years of experience in tech world. "Thank you so much for sharing the truth and using your wisdom to help people like us. It really means a lot. Now I have a question. I've been using an iMac from 2014, and I want to upgrade my computer. I used to be an independent filmmaker 10 years ago before I left everything behind. Now, technology has advanced so much that it is very difficult to catch up. Finally, I realized that everything is digitized and social media has become a part of life. Now I'm upgrading my gear and editing computer. I have a budget, but saving money is a smart way to navigate in this critical world. Should I go for the refurbished 16-inch MacBook Pro with the M2 Max chip, which costs $2,800, or should I go for the new MX3 version?" please put some light on my ignorant mind.

  6. I live in the Netherlands and while the cheapest m1 macbook pro 14 costs 1700 euros refurbished, the brand new 14 inch m3 macbook pro costs 2400 euros in general but i have seen deals for 2250…..

    WHAAAAT?????????????????

  7. Also, when you mentioned Premiere Pro and DaVinci Resolve, you don't mention Final Cut Pro. I know really nothing about any of these programs, but wouldn't Apple's software run the best on its hardware? If they could, they'd make it better than the competition. They've been criticized for stealing others' technology and software and getting vengeful when not allowed to buy or take advantage of the competition. Why don't you use Final Cut Pro?

  8. I would like this video more if you told us why you didn't get a Mac Studio with M2 Ultra chip. Why didn't you get it before (when you bought the M2 Max MacBook Pro) and did you consider it when upgrading to an M3 Max MacBook Pro?

  9. Hmm. I was just downvoting your videos before watching them in the hopes they would stop appearing in search results other than for "just josh" but you're not as annoying as I remembered with the creepy voice. You still come across as a dork with the head and arm/hand movements, though, but maybe I'll un-downvote your videos in case they're actually useful or worth watching.

  10. I bought one of these because I traded in my M1 iMac several years ago to help pay for a proper gaming rig. I needed a laptop as time went on so I settled on an M3 Pro. I don't regret it, but I probably would if I'd jumped from a generation that was immediately prior to it.

  11. Although it wasn't a good feeling , Im glad I returned my M3 max after watching this and sticking to M2 Max for video editing so this is relatable. Thank you. It will be interesting to see what apple will bring out in the future that may be worth upgrading on, let's see.

  12. Any spec suggestions for someone replacing a 2010 MBP that uses a Studio m1 ultra for main editing and does occasional editing on a laptop? Could apple improve the memory throttling with future software updates?
