Downgrade iOS 5.1.1 / 5.1 to 5.1 / 5.0.1 / 5.0 (A4 & below) | Windows & Mac

There is a way for you to downgrade iOS 5.1.1 to 5.1, 5.0.1 and 5.0.
Here’s a tutorial on How to Downgrade iOS 5.1.1 / 5.1 to iOS 5.1 or iOS 5.0.1,… using Redsn0w & iTunes.

Before You Proceed:

– This tutorial will only work if you have managed to save your SHSH + APTicket for the iOS version that you are intending to downgrade to. Otherwise, you’re out of luck.

-This tutorial will only work for A4 devices which means that if you have an iPhone 4S, iPad 2 or the new iPad, then you have no use for this tutorial.

-If you rely on an unlock, you must first create a custom IPSW of the firmware that you are planning to downgrade to as this will preserve your unlockable baseband as opposed the upgrading it, thus allowing you to keep your unlock.

DOWNLOADS:

Redsn0w 0.9.11b4 for Windows: (be sure to run in Administrator mode)

Redsn0w 0.9.11b4 for Mac OS X:

ALL FIRMWARE DOWNLOADS: (ipsw)

Note: Your browser may change the ipsw-file into a zip-file. In that case, just rename it to end in .ipsw and iTunes will accept it.

Don’t download it from the Mac App Store !

HOSTS FILE:
Copy & paste this into the hosts file (make sure you have administrative privileges):
# 74.208.105.171 gs.apple.com

IF THAT DOESN’T WORK & iTunes SAYS “This device isn’t eligible for the requested build”,
TRY: # 74.208.10.249 gs.apple.com

Note: sometimes a 1013 error will pop up, throwing your device into recovery mode.
In order to return to standard mode, you simply need to download two utilities: TinyUmbrella (Windows, Mac) and Fix Recovery (Windows, Mac). Launch it and select Exit Recovery.

error 3194?
3194 means your hosts files๏ปฟ are wrong, you probably have tinyumbrella, open it, and uncheck “set hosts to cydia” and “request shsh from cydia” then close it, you will now be able to restore properly.

Error 20: make sure๏ปฟ you have the blobs (SHSH) of the fw you want to downgrade to, you edited the hosts file, and entered DFU mode before the shift restore.

Error 2005: try to switch between USB ports

You only need to use ‘TinyUmbrella’ or ‘Fix Recovery’, if๏ปฟ your device is stuck in Recovery mode. (error 1013)

Once you’re done, your device should work normally. There’s one last step, however, if you’d like to receive future updates from Apple’s servers: restore the hosts file to its original state.
