HTC, which once led the mobile phone industry, wants to push the metaverse mobile phone: unfortunately, the scenery is no longer

Speaking of HTC, it will surely bring back memories of many people. As the earliest batch of Android phone manufacturers, it has flourished for many years, giving birth to many classic models and leading the smartphone industry.

However, due to strategic mistakes and the rise of many emerging domestic mobile phone manufacturers, HTC gradually faded away, faded out of the smartphone industry, and focused on the VR business.

Although it is no longer active, HTC has not given up on the mobile phone business. In recent years, it will still release some mid-to-low-end mobile phone products, focusing on some overseas markets.

According to a new report from Digitimes, HTC is expected to bring a metaverse smartphone in April 2022, which may be another flagship phone product of HTC after the U12+ in 2018.

HTC Vice President Charles Huang confirmed that the smartphone will work with the Viveverse and carry features related to the “metaverse”.

Viveverse is an open source metaverse platform launched by HTC VIVE, which consists of various interactive worlds, applications and games, and supports cross-platform (such as Vive Sync and Engage) access for users of smartphones, PCs, tablets and VIVE Flow glasses.

Users can even import NFTs, which can be accessed through Vive Connect into the Viverse Metaverse.

There is no other exposure news about this phone yet, but combining the concept of the Metaverse has a big explosion point. When the blockchain was very popular before, HTC also brought a blockchain mobile phone and was chasing the concept. This one, HTC is still very good.

Since the concept of metaverse was proposed, it has been valued and even applied by various industries, allowing VR and AR to enter the field of vision of many people again, but it will take some time for its implementation.

In addition, there have been attempts to combine AR/VR technology with smartphones before, but in terms of results, they have failed. So this time, what kind of metaverse mobile phones can be produced by HTC, which has been deeply involved in the VR business for many years. Things are still quite exciting, whether it can rise again with the “Dongfeng” of the Metaverse.
