Google Pixel 8a, No Longer A Budget Hero? | What To Expect | TSW191

Google’s Pixel 8a is speculated to launch in May 2024, but the asking price isn’t as budget as hoped if those leaks aren’t total cowchud. Still, you can expect a slick Google smartphone experience from the Pixel 8a – and here’s the news ahead of my unboxing and review!

So far there’s not much chat about the camera tech, but you can expect the usual satisfying point and shoot ease of use. The Google Pixel 8a will also sport the same AI smarts as the 8 and 8 Pro, thanks to the Tensor G3 chipset. So while gaming won’t be the smoothest around, you can expect all of that translation, transcription and search based shenanigans.

The Google Pixel 8a will also offer similar specs to the 7a, from the 6.1-inch OLED screen to the plastic finish. Leaks have revealed that it will cost considerably more however, that price now hiked to around £500 or $500. That’s disappointing if true, despite the excellent software support, as the A series can’t exactly be called ‘affordable’ any more. No worries though, at the very least the Pixel 7a will drop in price as a result.

So are you tempted by the Pixel 8a, launching this May? Let us know in the comments below!

  1. Managed to get a good deal yesterday on a pixel 7 256gb for just £350 at Argos, weird as they had the pixel 7 128gb for £380.

Can i get a thumbs up from all my fellow Geordies 👍

  2. I bought Pixel 8 for 600 euro just 2 weeks ago, in a regular chain store with electronics.
It's not a problem to get it for this price even in my country, where Google does not sell it officially.
If the Pixel 8a starting price is going to be 570 euro, good luck in selling any of it, Google.

  3. can you please test the qin 3 ultra 5 inch?
hey friends of small smartphones! I'm so excited to share with you what I just found….qin 3 ultraaaaaa I need it

Not everything on the cell phone has to work because it's just media detox programm in my life. Was that understandable, my English is not that good 😅 🎉 I'm really excited and excited that I found this 😂

  4. I did originally come here to get a tech review, but that quickly paled into insignificance once Uncle Spurt got into his 15min comedy stand up routine.

  5. What's the point of the 8a? The pixel 8 is already a gimped pixel. Google is a real joke of a company at this point. I have a 7a and that's the end of Pixels for me.

  6. If they won't take your body, you can at least leave your mountain of unexamined wrist-mounted health data to science. Oh sh*t, is there an accelerometer in this watch?
(ouch, I am that middle-aged dude – uncanny)

  7. Pixel 4a was their last true budget phone. That phone itself was a steal at the time. I honestly miss mine. Google and Samsung need to quit riding Apple's dick with their horrible business tactics. Enough with the different sized models and removed features. We just need two variants. An actually compact and plus sized phone for a reasonable price.

  8. Figure might get a second opinion here, recently updated my pixel 7a to the recent March update and I swear either I'm tripping or the display colors feel muted out of nowhere in comparison to before the update. And this feels weird happening to me right before the new phone comes out even though I plan on waiting for a better pixel phone

  9. I sympathize with your dentist woes, I'm having some major work done myself, requiring multiple visits and thousands of dollars. If I didn't drink much before, I certainly do now. And on the subject of James Corden hate, don't seek a new target. Corden's loathsomeness is vast enough to warrant a lifetime of disdain. F**k James Corden!
