Unlock your iPhone 3Gs on Firmware 5.1 Using this Guide! If you have updated to 5.1 and wish to unlock your 3Gs then this video and article will guide you through the unlocking process. Yes it is a tethered jailbreak so you cannot reboot the 3Gs on it’s own after the unlocking process and will need a computer with redsn0w installed. Old bootrom 3Gs’s can enjoy an Untethered Jailbreak. Pay careful attention as this is not the easiest thing to do. All you will need is to download Redsn0w 0.9.10b6 from below.

Step 1. Remove any Sim card from your iPhone and go ahead and freshly restore it to raise chances of success ONLY if it doesn’t have the 6.15.00 baseband. Once that is complete run Redsn0w and select “Jailbreak”. Now on the options menu check “Install Cydia” & “Install iPad Baseband”. NOTE that whoever is doing this to fix the “NO SERVICE” error, ONLY check “Install iPad Baseband” NOT “Install Cydia”.
Step 2: Place the iPhone into DFU mode and run the jailbreak/Baseband Flashing. If you encounter any errors try again but if that doesn’t work then use redsn0w 0.9.9b6 (links provided above) if that too doesn’t work then watch this video: Redsn0w Error Fix Video or try it on a different pc.
Step 3. Once the Jailbreak & Baseband Flashing is finished go ahead and open Cydia and wait for it to finish loading, then select the “Manage” tab, “Sources”, “Edit”, “Add” and add the following source ““. Install the iOS 5.1 Ultrasn0w Fixer Package and then “search for “Ultrasn0w” and install. If you can not locate ultrasn0w, go to “Changes” and hit “Refresh”. After installing Ultrasn0w you will be asked to respring, do that and then Power off your iPhone. Insert your Sim card and boot opening Cydia, selecting “Extras” and then “Just boot Tethered Now”. Put your iPhone into DFU mode once again and the iPhone will reboot with the aid of redsn0w.
Step 4. Now wait approximately 5 minutes & Watch as your iPhone 3Gs becomes activated! You are now Unlocked on iOS 5.1 on your 3Gs!
