The electrocardiogram (ECG) technology on the Apple Watch Apple Watch was previously sued by the company for infringing on the patents of medical equipment manufacturer AliveCor, and filed an infringement lawsuit with the United States International Trade Commission (USITC or ITC).

In response to the lawsuit’s ruling that the Apple Watch should be banned, Apple stated that it “firmly disagrees” and hired a representative of the former ITC chairman to lobby. The Biden administration needs to review whether it agrees to the implementation of the ban within 60 days. According to the latest report from foreign media Reuters, the Biden administration will not veto the decision of the US International Trade Commission on the above-mentioned infringements. It means that AliveCor sued Apple’s electrocardiogram technology infringement case, and won the ITC’s favorable judgment.
Earlier today (2/22), Priya Abani, CEO of AliveCor, tweeted a Po post and issued a statement stating, “Regarding Apple’s infringement of AliveCor’s patents, the ITC’s final ruling requires the imposition of a ban on imports, which has been reviewed and approved by the President.” And It is emphasized that the victory of the lawsuit is that the U.S. government has shown to corporate innovators that it is of great significance to protect and value intellectual property rights owned by innovative technology patents, and to devote itself to the development of technology that has more practical functions for consumers. Apple has yet to make an official response to this.
