Trouble at SpaceX! Starlink V2 Mini fails…may require deorbit.

The Starlink Constellation is the most critical gamble for the future success of SpaceX! With the V2 satellites held up by the delayed orbital test of Starship, SpaceX just deployed the scaled down V2 Mini. However, there appears to be a flaw that could lead to the destruction of the first 21 satellite batch.

  1. Not a fan of starlinks project as think gets in the way of astronomy & science from Earth & low orbit.
Kind of shows how we need to control what is been put into orbit, especially now private companies are involved. How you do that worldwide & is legally honoured around the globe I don't know? Not a new subject .
Starlinks is getting in the way of Astronomy & much more to go up from companies & Nation's & adding to junk up there. We need to work out space junk & future satellites as problem will keep growing in this new age of privatised companies. Wish I knew away forward

  2. Continuing the traditional spaceX joke,

"If you ever feel you screwed up, remember that you arent the guy who most likely found out he screwed up something with entirity of new satelite production line"

  3. Crashing some vehicles in the name of testing is just the SpaceX way. I’m glad they’re getting this out of the way now rather than when starship is online and delivering tons of V2’s to orbit

  4. Space X has shown what can be done if a manufacturer elects to build towards perfection in a product design product instead of building to a set failure point (just beyond warranty) like almost ALL other American manufacturers. Having worked for several manufacturers in engineering testing and tasked to select components exceeding the warranty by up to a few months on average to force consumers into a replacement cycle.
Would it take over a hundred years to perfect an automobile or home appliances? Imagine if manufacturers had to shoulder the burden of landfill costs when their products failed on que and are replaced????
I'm going to guess they would design and build longer lasting products instead of cashing in on low quality product sales if our government would side with taxpayer wishes for a better planet instead of corporations.

  5. The DANGER of Making Spaceflight in any form seem "routine" has been forgotten. This means it is overdue to boomerang and catch us in the bare backside once again. The only questions are: What will it cost? And Who pays the price? This time it's a junked payload. What the costs could be at some point down a very long road is the question we ought to be asking now so that we don't have to give a far more awful answer to history and to ourselves later on. “per aspera ad astra."

  6. Conspiracy alert. Didnt Elon say the Ukraine internet help was bleeding money but he decided to keep it up and running. Maybe he is secretly trying to get from under that kind expensive gesture.

  7. Congratulations on 100K. About damn time! 🙂I think SpaceX will earn more money mining the moon than operating Starlink. Everything they'd learn and develop from moon mining and possibly a moon base will help make their Mars missions much more successful and safer. In other words, learn to walk before trying to run.

  8. Sounds like space junk to me. Starlink even version 2 is another Elon Musk ponzi scheme like hyperloop, solar city and stupid underground tunnels. I've woken up to the true facts about starship and Elons bullshit about getting to Mars. Hopefully Angry will stop believing the hype and stop being a Spacex fanboy. Getting to Mars needs realistic propositions and planning not Elons science fiction. With NASA's help and a nuclear rocket a small team can get there realisticilly in the late 2030's. The mars outpost will be a scientific base smaller than Antarctica for many decades. There is not going to be a million colony of ordinary people this century. Let's all start getting more sober about the real science here not Elon hyperbole.

  9. They are using a new argon thruster instead of xenon i think.

Apparently it needs improvements. Remember they're iterating so fast the next version is basically a prototype.

  10. Deploying another 15,000 satellites is NOT going to happen. Enough POLLUTION of the sky. Bad enough that our kids will never know what the hell is the Milky Way! Not to mention the growing probability of a runaway Kessler syndrome blocking ANY future space travel!

  11. SpaceX needs to upgrade the fairing for Falcon9 & even a bigger one for SuperHeavy.

I think they overestimated the timeline for StarShip.

That larger fairing will address the needs of StarLink.

  12. still don't understand the starlink business model. seems way too expensive for way too few customers and way too little revenue. it can never compete in a meaningful way vs broadband/fiber optic. a big risk to space travel for very little positive impact

  13. Actually Starlink seems to be a bit ahead of financial projections and the TAM seems larger than first anticipated. What is interesting is that it is actually able to compete better against established providers in markets where the incumbent land based options are established.
