  1. welll, nintendo is scared because the steam deck will run nintendo games šŸ˜€ probably better šŸ˜€ so in my opinion they will lose allot of clients

  2. My beef with Dolphin on the Steam Store is how easily the devs could decide to monetize it. I'm not saying they would, but I TOTALLY get Valve's and Nintendo's fears even if the two companies weren't currently pals. This is another reason I haven't yet jumped on the Steam Deck train. Valve need to make non-Steam programs easier to get working on the Deck. Hell, I think Sony was in the right to sue over bleem! as it was a paid commercial product, and I HATE Sony. While Nintendo does have excessive paranoia over piracy, people largely end up pushing Nintendo's buttons too hard and exaggerate about them while stanning their competitors out of immaturity and/or for attention. I call out crap wherever it is.

  3. This is one of the best informative and most professional takes on the situation that I have ever seen on a news based channel. You had multiple sources and you were able to quote those sources. Great job NP cant wait for the next video.

  4. Totally natural from Valve to contact Nintendo about this to maintain good relationships between both companies for potential future businesses.
And itā€™s not completely true to say that dolphin emulator isnā€™t compatible with the steam deck. Yes it isnā€™t as simple as downloading it from the steam shop. But itā€™s totally doable šŸ˜Š

  5. This is like a company asking Kmart to sell their product of lockpicks, and Kmart turning around and telling the police.
The legality of lockpicks is not inherently illegal, but let's not pretend that anything more than 1% of people with lockpicks are using it for good.

  6. I canā€™t believe they are doing this after dropping all support for the systems the US legal system should require continued support and show that the information a company wants to protect should be an active product, if the company abandons all support then that should null and void all legal protection and it should be open market for 3rd parties

  7. This would be incredibly interesting to see in court ! What would be very interesting is if Dolphin and/or Valve alone approached Nintendo to get an official stance & go from there, kinda like Lewis Galoob Toys, Inc. v. Nintendo of America, Inc. in 1990, where Lewis Galoob Toys sued Nintendo to get a declaratory judgement so Nintendo couldn't decide to sue them for the Game Genie, kinda like an Action Replay, down the road (Lewis Galoob Toys won).

  8. Though this information is interesting if you know anything about the inner working of valve you will know they definitely didnt just randomly reach out to nintendo. Valve is a cla corporation they actually support many rom/ems so js this info is somewhat false

  9. I don't understand why the rush to steal other people's work with all this emulator stuff…

Y'all lucky Nintendo isn't from Sinaloa, things would be done a lot differently šŸ˜‚

  10. This sucks. Emulation is in big trouble if nintendo finds a way to get rid of dolphin. It's fine to have emulation. I even saved my old GC games so i can play them. Hell, I refuse to update my nintnedo 3ds firmware cause they are trying to have the homebrew get patched away.

  11. I think it's probably best it stays off of Steam. I'm all for emulation & game preservation, but by releasing the emulator onto a place such as Steam, not only could the developers get shut down by Nintendo, but also Valve themselves.

    BTW – TLDW:

Nintendo did not file anything with the DMCA. Valve reached out to Nintendo about Dolphin, Nintendo said we don't like it and think it might violate DMCA… can you please remove it, and then Valve said sure thing buddy. Which means Dolphin can't countersue or anything as it's removal wasn't done due to a legal thing, but rather just valve using their TOS that lets them remove anything they want.

Valve did Nintendo a HUGE favor here, despite holding zero liability over it.
