Faceoff e07: 7700X vs 7950X vs 5800X3D, Escape From Tarkov Gaming Performance Comparison

These are the 3 best gaming CPUs available from AMD today. In today’s episode of Faceoff, we’ll find out how they stack up against each other in Escape From Tarkov. Enjoy.

A lot of us PC gamer enthusiasts have been eagerly awaiting the release of AMD’s new Ryzen 7000 series CPUs. The AM4 era is over and we’re into AM5 now (AM4 will still live on for a long time though). New chip design, DDR5, PCIe5, new motherboards, new everything pretty much. There are some impressive numbers being thrown around, but it’s also first generation.

I wasn’t expecting an extreme gain over the 5800X3D in gaming. In terms of average it’s pretty close, but it does feel a bit smoother and stable. This is my own suspicion and I could be totally wrong, but I think AMD is hiding performance with these like they did with the X3D. I think there will be a driver update or something that will uplift the performance or a new feature, like SAM 2.0 or something. These are just my own thoughts, so take them with a grain of salt.

Either way, I believe the modest gaming performance increase is completely by design. I believe this series of 7000s to be a filler episode that can compete on the multi core level, but the X3Ds are gonna come in and steal the show.

  1. I'm quite shocked at this… I believed because Tarkov is poorly optimized, that "brute forcing" the CPU workload would help with those CPU issues. But it looks like it just didn't make a ton of difference. It's sad, but VERY informative. Hope the new Unity engine updates will improve significantly.

  2. Just a bit of feedback, great video but when your showing the graphs any chance you could have coloured bars as it was quite hard to differentiate between the CPU type!!

  3. Im so confused
I have got my new setup with a ryzen 7 7700x and rtx3070
My cpu temp ist about 75celsius which is way hotter than in ur testings does someone know why this could be?

  4. This is great content and very informative. You are definitely leading the way on tarkov benchmarks!

Will be interesting to see Zen4 3D performance in tarkov, surely another 10-15% hopefully!

  5. Ok guys so I'm planning to upgrade from a 3600X to a really good CPU for gaming especially for Tarkov. Is it not better to go for a 7600X AM5 and wait for the next AM5 X3D.
BTW atm I have a very average Mobo (gigabyte x570 UD) and really bad Ram atm (32go @2400mHz). I have already spotted 3 scenarios.
1/ go for 5800 X3D with actual Mobo but change Ram to DDR4 3600
    2/ go for 7600X with AM5 good Mobo and DDR5 5200 or 5600 (futur upgrade in 2 years possible -> 7X00 X3D or even 8X00 X3D)
    3/ go for intel 13600k + DDR5 5200 or 5600

What you guys think ? Thx for help

  6. 5800x3d so much more worth it since if you buy the 7000 series you'll have to buy a new Motherboard and ram just to be able to use it. If the 7000 series x3d is better I might reconsider and wait until it releases.

  7. Do you think it’s worth getting a 5800x3d if I have a 5900x already? I just don’t want to pay the am5 prices. I use 1080p 360hz with a 3070 ti currently debating getting a 3080 12gb also and moving the 3070 ti to the wife’s pc.

  8. Hi, love your videos man!! Any advice on what settings I should enable or disable in BIOS? I’m about to build my first AMD rig which is a Asus Rog Crosshair x670E Hero and 7950X with Trident 6000 30CL and 4090 GPU. Thanks!!

  9. Again GREAT video. Just a one little catch, there is written 4090 together 7700x in specs description under video, but you are using 3090ti in all tests I guess. Thank you for this unique content, great job.

  10. Good comparison.
Shame there still seems to be something that causes massive FPS drops when going into the inventory with EFT rigging the 0.1% lows and 1% lows, not much you can do about it.
7950X having cross CCX latency involved could explain slightly lower numbers than 7700X.
I would say it is pretty reasonable to expect the 7800X3D (or whatever it will be named) to become the next best CPU for EFT. Such a weird game, we have insane processors that are beyond diminishing returns in most games of today but somehow 90fps for 1% lows is hard to beat in Tarkov…
